8 Handbag essentials!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I wanted to share with you my handbag essentials. I try to minamise my essentials so I don't end up with the weight of a small car in my bag. Whilst trying to carry things for any obstacle that may arise.

                                                           Instagram - MissJadeeP

1. Metal straw....

Now if you're like me you hate the feel of paper straws, they go soggy and turn to mush! I have tried many metal straws over the past year, but I keep going back to my bent rose gold one with the silicone mouthpiece. Now the silicon really made it for me. I was so paranoid someone would knock me and the metal in my mouth would damage my teeth. Now I have found the perfect solution, to both being environmentally friendly and following my pink aesthetic.

2. Hair ties.....

This cute pouch from Ted baker is perfect, it fits multiple bands in to share with friends or if you feel you need space buns or multiple ponytails. It also is easy to find in a work bag or weekend bag, so you’re not digging around the bottom of your bag trying to find the one hair tie you dropped in there last week.

3. hand cream and Hand Gel....

Since we are in a pandemic, I have a fully topped up bottle of hand gelato keep the germs away. One downside of this is that it is leaving my hands all kinds of sore and sandpaper rough. Having a little bottle of hand cream has been my life saver the past two weeks. Plus, you can get some really cute pink bottles to maximise aesthetic needs.

4. A Fancy pen.....

This is something I learned during adulting times. When you need to sign for something and you get out a fancy over the top pen, it’s just so satisfying! I think it gives the impression that I completely have my life together. I love pretty stationery. This pen is a Ted Baker fountain pen and it’s so compacted its perfect for handbag life. So, when you're all sat round a table and someone asks, 'does anyone have a pen?', You can come to everyone’s rescue.

5. My Planner....

So, It isn't in the photo, however, I would be lost without my planner. It literally has half my brain inside it! I am currently using a Kiki K personal size planner in baby pink and it is absolutely stunning! I will have to do a post about how I use it efficiently and whilst maintaining the style points.

6. mini-emergency kit.....

Now this is something I learned back in the day watching Juicystar07 and AllthatGlitters talking about their store Glitzy Glam. My mini Mergency kit is super small but packs a punch! It holds: Stain remover wipes, bobby pins, Safety pins, Plasters, painkillers, nail file, face wipes, tissues, eyelash glue, cotton pads and emergency needle and thread! All fitting into a small bag the size of my fist!

7. Setting powder.....

I have no idea why this always happens to me, but my make-up always just falls off my nose! I have tried facials by a dermatologist, Multiple home remedies and trying all primers. So, for me having a travel size eating powder and make-up brush on hand allows me to rectify my Rudolph nose making an appearance.

8. Power bank.....

Now I would only take this if I was leaving the house for a full day out. Especially when I am going to be using my phone a lot. For example, if I was heading into London for the day and decided to use the train. Especially when travelling alone it gives me some added reassurance that my phone won't go out of battery and I can call someone in and emergency.

Thank you for reading! I would love to hear your handbag essentials too. so please hop on over to my Instagram and let me know if you think I have missed something, or you have something you can't live the house without!

Creating the perfect work space!

Something that I had struggled with doing, was sitting down and getting work done. Now I think that it was down to an un motivational work space. For years I had not been able to work at my small desk space at home. Always Travelling to the local coffee shop just to get things done. Now don't get me wrong being a coffee lover this has defiantly been a plus also the endless Instagram pictures!

I'm now coming to an end of my 3rd year at uni and I think if I have got any advice for people starting uni is to create a work space at home that motivates you to sit and get work done.

I think I have finally created a space that makes me happy and want to work and get stuff done!

My Work Space!

Now I only had space for a small desk in my bedroom. To store all my uni books and have enough space to use a laptop, take notes and have a text book open with such a small space. I knew this was something I would need to plan out.

When I started to map out my effective work space I used a mind map sheet to map out what I wanted my work space to include. Then using them ponts I created a mini Vision board. Now I did originally do this on paper with  little print offs from my phone but you can use Magazine cut outs, wall paper stickers etc. I will include a Photo of my Original Plan bellow so you can see how it all started!

The vision board!

Once I had my vision board I as off. I measured the space I had and wrote it on a little sticky note so I could take it of my vision board when I made the trip to Ikea! This was really helpful and I have learnt my lesson way to many times in the past by not taking measurements!

Also One of the first things to consider is a colour scheme, I actually noted down the colours I wanted to use to ensure it wouldn't be too busy and clash. Picking neutral colours like white and grey create the look of a clean space. I learnt this from a Home and styling magazine years ago. Then to maximise your motivation pick your favourite colour. As you can see mine is pink! I was also lucky enough that one of my favourite brands Ted Baker also had a pink stationery set out which would tie in with my colour scheme.

The next thing I really had to think about was lighting. My ceiling light provided enough light when the sun had set but Sitting with my back to the main source of light gave me some funky shadows. As I needed so much space I didn't have room for a lamp. Instead I used fairy lights just to minimise any shadows cast onto to my work space.

The last tip I used was from a home event I attended, Flowers, Flowers create that natural touch to any space. I have also read from a Harvard study that flowers promote happiness and reduce anxiety and create more energy to work. However, My ability at uni to keep anything alive other than my self was pretty slim! So I resorted to fake flowers from the range!

When I had purchase all of the items that I wanted to include in my little work space I laid them all out on my bed and begun styling them on my desk. About 6 attempts later I was finally happy with the way it turned out.

I hope this has helped anyone needing to create a small work space!

Thank you for reading my little blog

What I eat in a day when I am dieting!

So As you may know I am currently 'Plus size'. I fit into clothes between a Uk 12 and a Uk 16. I have been on a battle with my weight since school. I lost 3 stone in 2015 and I was doing really well. Then I met my partner and put that 3 stone back on and some. I decided I needed to do something about that, I started dieting and going to the gym I broke my T10 and T11 Vertebrae in my back making me bed bound and on rest for a couple of months ( July 2016 - September 2016). With the healthy eating my excuse was it was too hard for me to stand long enough to prepare healthy food and takeaway was so much easier to clean up also.

Now a Year later I have lost 1 stone and 3 pounds within 6 Weeks! How you might ask? Pure motivation and determination. I am still nowhere near where I actually want to be but I know if i stick at it everything will pay off.

Today I have been working, Running errands, going to the gym, cleaning and doing laundry. This is Everything I have eaten today!

Breakfast!

For Breakfast I had Two mango fingers, One pineapple finger, 1 Kiwi, Melon and Strawberries.

Lunch!

So Today I cheated! After the Gym with my bestie we popped into Starbucks to grab Lunch! I had a Peach green tea Lemonade and a Pulled Beef and Rice hot box.

Dinner!

So for dinner I cooked up all the left over Veg from the week before. I just prepped it all  put it on a Baking tray and sprayed with fry light. I cooked some plain pasta and chopped up a few slices of smoked Ham. For pudding I had some apples.

So as you can see I try not to snack in between meals but I do try and make my meal last as long as possible. I also drink 4 850 ml bottles of water a day to keep myself hydrated especially when going to the gym and working out. I find that dieting doesn't only affect my weight but I feel more energetic in the mornings and my skin is glowing I actually want to get out of bed! I also love to plan my meals and I use a weekly journal to plan my meals ahead especially if I am working away from home/Office then I can prepare myself and have everything ready.

Thank you for reading! Much love!

Staying Organised!

If you follow me on social media you may know I work a 40/50 hour week (usually 50). I am also taking 120 credits at University. Thats equivalent to 35 hours a week study.

Lets do the Math....
158 hours in a week
42 hours spent sleeping
50 hours at work
35 hours of study
4 hours at the gym

thats 27 hours, to eat, get ready, socialise, do the food shopping, shower and drive between all the places that I have to go.

How on earth do I manage that? Erin Condren, She has changed my life! The past two years I have been using her Life Planner. I am currently using the Erin Condren Life Planner with Permanent cover in a Taupe colour. It has 'Create, motivate and inspire' foiled on the front, This quote is one that I use quite a lot. I chose the Vertical layout as my previous planner was also vertical. There are so many customiseable features. Its all down to personal choice.

Here Is the front cover of my Life Planner!

I use the vertical layout to stick stickers designed for the Erin concern planner. I use the Easy app to purchase stickers! I love using stickers to make my planner look fun and interesting! I am more likely to stick to it if I have fun creating it. Recently I have been loving this Uk based Shop, Its important to me to buy UK based Etsy stickers, not only is the shipping A LOT cheaper but also they arrive faster! The shop is called Projectplan.

Just look at these super adorable weekly spreads using ProjectPlan stickers! I am just in love with this shop, I couldn't recommend a better shop! The sticker quality is amazing and the colours are so vibrant. Also the designs just seem to fit in with my life! This is what my weekly spreads look like before I fill them in using my pens!

Click the Weekly spread name to open up The ProjectPlan shop.

So once I have placed all the stickers the way that works best for me I start to fill in the days.

I start by adding in the hours in which I am working that week, My hospital appointments, Baby sitting and any social events. I will look for gaps in my planner where I can add in my study sessions and what I want to achieve for the specific time slot. It keeps me on track and makes sure I stay focused during the time I have! As the week goes on I would add bits to the weekly plan if something comes up etc.

Here is an example of a completed Weekly spread:

Now where it says 'Study for week -- that refers to my study planner that I made for my wall. This tells me what I should be achieving for that week. I copied this from both of my module study planners just so I can see them side by side.

With all of that in place I know what I'm doing and when. Sometimes life does just happen and some days and I can't stick to the plan but I always try my best to. Also I am such a visual person it helps me to have these right infant of my face!

I hope you have enjoyed reading how I stay organised!

Ten things to do on a Rainy Day!

Hey Girls! I hope your all doing good. Recently we have had some Bad weather and sometimes it gets boring staying in! Especially when you have planned a great day out at the beach or just doing some gardening at home and wake up to a drizzly day! So here are ten things that you can do on a rainy day! Obviously there is loads more things but these are my top ten!

1. Make some Yummy food!

Remember that time you was scrolling down Facebook and came across that mouthwatering video of food, and you thought I must try that recipe. Well here is your chance pop to the shop and grab some ingredients and off you go! You can also get super creative with the decorations!

2. Duvet Day!

Time to relax, get a drink and some snacks and binge on Netflix. Catch up with all your most love shows and discover new ones!I am always searching on twitter for new Tv shows that are trending!

3. Finish that to do List!

Last weeks to do list still looking  incomplete? well lets work through it might as well if we are inside! I normally finish any incomplete to do lists on rainy days, get them over and done with especially if
I don't have anything better to do!

4. Cleaning!

Now I don't mind cleaning, it gives a sense
 of satisfaction. I wouldn't waste a nice
day doing it though so i prefer to get
it done when its gloomy outside. then spend the nice days out in the sun.

5. Read a Book!

Now I love reading and I don't make enough time to do so. My problem is finding  book that will keep me interested and is exciting enough for me to actually finish it. I tend to spend more time watching book club videos on YouTube then actually reading!  I may even start a One non fiction book per month resolution.

6. DIY or Craft Day!

I am a very artsy-fartsy person and I do work with children so sometime I just love having a DIY/Crafting day. I save hundreds of DIY ideas onto pinterest and screen shot loads from Facebook. Then when the rain comes out and I am sat inside bored, I get my craft supplies out and have a go at a bit of DIY. This is also an excuse for a trip to hobby craft to buy lots of bits and bobs for my craft box As you will need a topped up one to be able to craft at the drop of a raindrop.

7.The Floor-drobe!

Haven't sorted through your wardrobe in a while? Clothes piling up all over the place? Its time to sort it out! Personally My way of sorting my clothes out is pretty long winded. I take EVERYTHING out of my wardrobe and put it onto my bed into piles. I try on all of my clothes and take photos. If it doesn't fit or looks horrendous in the photo its throw away time! Another Tip put your clothes hangers in the opposite way you usually would when putting them all back. Once you have worn it, put it back on the hanger the right way around then in 6 months time you can see whats left the wrong way (clothes you haven't worn) Then you know what you can throw away straight away!

8. Music re-load!

So If your like me you have a note on your phone with different songs you have heard out and about and the list is getting longer! Well now that is gloomy outside and your sat in doing nothing! Turn that note into a playlist! Then when is sunny out and you want to drive around listening to killer tunes your all set!

9. Pamper day!

This is something I love to do with my friends! we Order a pizza watch movies with a face mask on and paint our nails. Its something to do that is nice and relaxing. If your alone then its also the perfect time to put on your music playlist get your fave lush bath bombs and have a luxurious bath!

10. Make a wish list!

Do you get stuck on your birthday or Christmas when people ask you what you would like as a gift? Well here is how to fix that, Grab a note book and some fun pens and make a wish list! I went through magazines, catalogs, online and I even took photos of stuff in the stores! To print, cut, glue and stick into my wish list. Even before I go shopping, even if its just to have a look around, I will look through my book first to get some Ideas or to see if there is anything from my book I could purchase.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my little Blog!

First Year Complete!

Hey guys! So if you don't know I am currently studying a BA Honors degree in Childhood studies. Last year I decided to enroll in my degree, to further my knowledge in my career, whilst having a full time job.

How does that work?

Well The Open University is an online university. I do all of my work at home in my spare time. Its distance learning and I get all my text books sent to me (included in the price). I get all my other information, assignments and online tutorials through Student home. Student home is a website hub with audio and video content and articles that relate to your subject.

My course is split into 3 stages. Each stage consists of one compulsory module and a chosen module. The modules are all slightly different. I have just completed the Stage One E102 module. This consisted of 4 Tutor Marked assignments and 8 Self reflecting Learning journeys.

For every module you will be assigned a Tutor. You can contact your tutor at any time during their working hours for any help or advice. You also have the opportunity to meet your tutor during face to face tutorials. Last year I attended 4 face to face tutorials that where focused on the Tutor marked assignments. They where all Saturdays from 10 am until 12;30 lunch time.

Pros of studying Online?

1. You can study anytime you can, The courses are really flexible and you can choose the intensity.

2. You can study and still work fulltime.

3. Your tutor is always there not just during typical 7am-6pm working hours. (Depending on your tutors working hours)

Cons of studying Online?

1. You must use your time effectively and not get distracted.

2. You will need a Laptop and Word if not you will have to purchase these.

3. Your tutorials may not be close by so you will have to travel to tutorials.

Thank you for reading my blog post, I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will answer or I could make another University post!

See you in my next post!
